the AR is fine. I really think it takes a lot to do any damage to an AR.

Hmmmmmm, pictures like that make me want to load up every single one of those 2500-ish pieces of .223 brass I have.

Update to the 45 issue -
After speaking w/ 2 guys here at my work who've been reloading for many years, they both had similar responses as this thread; if it fit the barrel flush & you could 'spin' the round in place - it should be fine & I should shoot them anyway. But a piece of me STILL wanted to get it 'just right', you know... since all the factory loads were dropping freely. So when I got home late last night I took my time with a box of WWB & Rem UMC factory loads as a control group. I ended up raising the seater die a tiny 1/4 turn and set taper crimp about 2/3 turn lower. Now all my rounds are dropping in slick and out freely. Right now I have two W231 loads ready for the 45 - a light 4.3-.45gr load to start & a 'normal' 5.0-5.1gr load if the light load works. I'm also gonna try to double-check them in my friend's 1911 & Sig to see how I did 'universally'.

Thanks again for all your help guys!
<---- happy camper!

Nice bench, bellyscraper!!! Geeez... I *wish* I had that kind of room to work in!
Can't wait to see pics of your finished setup.

Man, this reloading vibe is mad cool... I can already see the difference in velocity, recoil & accuracy... in just the second batch!!! And I'm shooting a good amount more rounds than I'd ever be able to afford in one sitting. First Pistol batch was perfect, much lighter recoil than factory WWB control group and noticably more accurate altogether.

But the rifle rounds - WOW! What a difference (at least to me!). Recoil is not as light & springy anymore. Accuracy has certainly improved. More 'umph' than factory UMC's .223 but slightly less than Fed. AE XMTac 5.56.

check it out:

Heh, if you think you got the accuracy bug bad, wait till you get a scoped bolt-action... its nuts.
