Jams with Reloads
Howdy from NY's Hudson Valley,
I am having trouble with my XD45 Service feeding 200 gr. SWC lead reloads. From a full magazine, the first round chambers and fires without a problem. When the empty case is being extracted, the rim of the case seems to be hitting the lip of the next live round in the magazine and this causes a malfunction. This happens every time with this ammo and with all 6 of my magazines. I cannot fire 2 consecutive rounds with this ammo. It always jams. I believe the slide is cycling fully because when I load only one round it does go to slide lock when empty. My XD has never had malfunctions with any other ammo. I have fired 1000's of rounds of this same lead ammo from my 1911 without a single malfunction. Any ideas? Thanks, S4T |

Hello from Michigan. I have not had a problem with any of the ammo I use (235 grain Winchester FMJ) or a few others (Speer, UMC). Maybe post on the general board for a larger audience. Try a search first to see if it has been addressed already.

My XD45 eats about everything, but I've never been able to "tune" the OAL for SWCs where they'll work 100%. I finally gave up.

Give it a little more of a crimp. I shoot .40 Lead SWC and was having the same problem you are I just gave the bullets a bit more crimp and the problem went away.

That may or may not work, doesn't for me. I just accept that my XD45Tac will feed everythig else & leave the LSWC ammo for my 1911s.
