New Reloader Question - Lock & Load AP

I'm new to reloading and I'm running in to problems with my first batch. I'm using 147grain Lead Round Nose bullets over Unique for 9mm loads. I am loading to 1.1" OAL. I am having feeding problems. The rounds will not load all the way into the chamber. Rounds are fine after the sizing die, but aren't fitting after belling (obviously) or after seating/crimp. I've tried to add more crimp when seating the bullet, but that didn't work. I'm afraid to go shorter OAL because 1.1" seems to be pretty short compared to what others are loading.

From my experiences, I have had to seat lead bullets deeper than plated for my 9mm. At the same OAL, 147gr Lazercasts would engage the riflings or not completely chamber when compared to Extreme plated 147 gr RN's. To maintain the same velocity I had to reduce my powder charge as a result of decreased case capacity. As long as pressures are fine and feeding is reliable I wouldn't worry too much about shorter OAL.

Can you post a pic of one of your rounds. I have round nose 9mm loaded a 1.130 with no feed problems. Might be your crimp.

I'll try seating them deeper, and if that doesn't work I'll post pics. I think I'll be fine with my starting load of 3.6 grains of Unique. On my first run, that wasn't enough to lock back the slide.

Thanks guys.
