I've got several different types of JHP's for carry ammo. I've carried Ranger T's, Black Talons,SXT's, Speer Gold Dots & Federal Hydra Shocks. Winchester Rangers have had issues with JHP's jacket seperation.
I've been carrying Speer for quite a while but have been reading good stuff on Federal HST's. I forgot about giving my friend most of my Speer Gold Dot 9MM ammo about 9 months ago for a trip. I had loaded in the Winchester Rangers for carry and noticed it last week. I picked up (arrived today) 100 124Gr +P 9mm and 200 147 Gr 9mm Federal HST rounds for $130 with shipping to try out. If I had see the Cabelas Speer Gold dot add last week I would have purchased 500 from them. I've got a good mix of JHP's and am going to hit the range with some material and do some testing. It's hard to go wrong with modern ammo now days just stick with a major brand. Just be aware the potential jacket seperation with some Winchester ammo. Pretty good website on testing LE ammo. Actually you do not have to go back and look. If the price is about 40.00 per 50 rounds he has the old Ranger SXT. If it is about 22.00 per 50 round box than it is the Ranger T-Series. If the price is around 26.00 per 50 than it is the Bonded jhp.

The FBI is switching to Ranger Bonded. It is more of a preference thing than anything else for the average joe.
