I carry Win Ranger T 147gr 9mm but would prefer Corbon DPX but can't afford it. I live in Rocky Mountains where during the winter everyone wears 3 layers of Carhart, Filson, etc. and would prefer the DPX but could afford a second gun with what it would cost to put 500 rounds thru it for reliability check

dudes... dont u think 147gr JHP's will be putting a helluva lot of strain on the barrel? depending on what firearm you're using, heavy loads necessary to set charge to heavy ammo can eventually lead to barrel meltdown.

do i make any sense?

in my .40 S&W carry piece i load either 155gr magtech's or 180gr ranger SXT's

You really shoot 500 rds for a reliability check?

I personally think that's a bit of overkill.Cor-Bon DPX is top quality ammo and will feed and fire the same every time. If you shoot 50 rounds without a problem I would say that's plenty.
