.40 Blazer ammo

I bought my .40 (XD of course) last week. I also bought 100 rounds of Magtech 180 grain (there's a fresh thread about these as well). There was something about them that I did not care for but since I had never shot a .40 I did not have anything to compare to.
Yesterday I picked up a box of Blazer 165 grain & a box of 155 grain Rangers. Today I shot a magazine of each. I still don't like the magtechs. I could not get a tight group on the Rangers at all & the recoil seemed a little snappier. The Blazers were awesome though. I did not expect to like them because they were the cheapest of all 3 ($15 per 50). The recoil seemed perfect & I grouped them at approx 2.5" with 3 almost in the same hole (at 8 yards). The other 2 was nowhere near that accurate. Someone please chime in & let me know your thoughts.

I am going to be trying the blazer soon, I have always shot the WWB. The blazers are cheap and a lot of people use them for range purposes... I have heard many good reviews.

I shoot blazer brass all the time in my .45. The stuff is great. I also really like magtech though. I haver never had any problems with it and I dont notice any difference in accuracy. I dont have a .40 though so I cant say for sure.
enjoy the XD

Hey XDfan, there's a thread about the Magtech ammo that was started recently. Since you shoot the Magtech, check that thread out & get back with me. I don't know if this is a rare problem or just in the .40's or what.

Yeah I saw the thread. Never heard of that happening before seeing that. All I know is that I have never had any problems of any kind in my XD .45.
Probably have put 1300-1400 rounds of it down the tube. My fav is blazer brass though for the price.

I guess to me it really doesn't matter about the problem with the Magtech's (except that I still have 50 rounds left to shoot) because unless I hear of something else, I am sold on the Blazer's

I like the blazer brass. I dont care for the 165 gr though. I like the 180 much better. It seems there is less recoil and the gun is easier to doubletap with the 180s.

My local range uses Blazer for their .45 range guns...I've never had any problems with it. It's certainly sufficient for range use.
