i was surfing the net and found this good info on four brands of ammunition

Golden Tiger, Brown Bear, Wolf and Silver Bear.

*have tried brown bear and wolf . no problems yet on my ak's . i have silver bear but i haven't tried those yet. never tried golden tiger

Silver Bear is the best..aka Barnual. Brown Bear is the 'lower grade' Barnual, Wolf and Golden Tiger are the same ammo, just like Hot Shot brand....Usually dirtier but still works good.

IT"S AN AK IT'LL SHOOT ANYTHING!

Seriously though, I stocked up on Monarch (barnaul) at academy when it was $2.86 a box....after 2 months from my last pruchase it was up to $4.86 a box!!! It shoots well, just as well as my 1K round order of Golden Tiger, which is made by Vympel.

I don't expect MOA accuracy with my AK's, and if you don't, I'd say get what's cheapest. AK's are easy to clean, so a little more funk to clean (barnaul vs vympel) isn't all that troublesome.

i know ak's can shoot anything . it's just info

and just because it can shoot anything i am not just gonna buy anything for my ak if i don't know what kind of ammo it is . just me . i tried monarch before but it's not for me .. i don't know why . guess it's more expensive than monarch in my area.

just sharing info since i see some forums have "is this ammo good for the ak" or "have you tried this ammo in your ak"

I bought a couple cases of Golden Tiger when Aim Surplus had a good price on it. I've put maybe a hundred rounds of it through my SKS and it ran fine. Didn't seem excessively dirty, either.
