Factory Reload: Weak Detonation???
I bought 500 rounds of factory reloads and I shot 150 rounds of them yesterday. Three rounds had weak detonations, two of which did not have enough power to rack the slide. I am a little nervous about these rounds. I have a few questions:
1) What should I do if I have a weak detonation??? (I imagine I should check the barrel to make sure the bullet is not trapped inside) 2) Is it okay to continue to use these, with proper precautions??? (I hate to have wasted money and they are only for range use; I will not be buying another box) 3) What causes a weak detonation???

As long as you check the barrel (unloaded gun) for a barrel obstruction and its clear then you can keep shooting. If you plan on shooting them...my suggestion is to shoot one at a time, at a slow pace, and check for confirmation it hit the paper.
If you are unsure of them you could always pull the bullets and reload them (if your a reloader), if not, just shoot them slowly. From my experience weak detonation (not ejecting or cycling the slide all the way closed) could be a few things. Obviously not enough powder is the first guess, not a tight enough crimp, not a fully seated primer, dirty primer pockets. Thats all that comes to mind.

Is a "week detonation" one that takes 7 days to happen?
