working up 45 acp loads
I am new to reloading. I am about to work up some loads for some golden sabre bullets I recently purchased. Can I use an equal weighted FMJ instead of using my expensive golden sabres to work up my loads? What exactly does +P mean? I know it has to do with the charge, but when working up a load, when does your charge qualify as +P?

Don't worry about +P yet be worried about kaBooms!
The same grain weight should be a good practice round. Everything will change a bit when you stick your Goldens in. Good way to start though... I just started working up some practive rounds for my 45 acp xd tactical my barrels max OAL is 1.292 with remington fmj 230gr and pmc cases. I was going to back off my OAL to 1.280 for pressure issues. Anyone have better information?

Sure but your loads will NOT be identical. Without a chronograph, you will only be guessing, but my own loads require just abit more powder under the GS to reach the same vel. as other JHP or FMJ. You still need to work up your FMJ load using the same components as your GS load. They are likely to hit same POI out to 15yds.
