They can both feed off a dead Bear for years! |

Ha!
When did you start re-loading? This is something that I am seriously considering but literally don't know anything about. I guess I need to go get a book about it. |

I have about $100 in my reloading equipment (lee 3 hole turret and .45acp dies, brass tumbler, digital scale)...then you have powder, primers, brass, and bullets.
I have done the math and after you pay for your reloading equipment its about half the cost (for me, reloading .45acp and buying the powder, primers,, etc. that i do). its not to complicated to do but not the easiest thing to do. Get you a reloading book or find a friend who does it (thats the best bet). I have been reloading for a few months and feel comfortable doing it. Feel free to PM me any questions you may have.

Actually! Just a few months ago. I have done a lot of research online. A lot of good info here, and on ar15.com. Read as many manuals as you can. Ask questions on the forums. Just remember....safety first.
I am still learning, I have worked up some light plinking loads in 40, 45, and .223. I am going work up some hunting loads in .223 before deer season. Right now I am getting ready to work up some self defense loads with golden sabres for my 40 and 45. |

It depends on what you want....
I got stared out with a RCBS Rockchucker Supreme kit.. $240.... That got time consuming tryin to reload 1k .223 or 1k .40s... So i got a Dillon 550... man i love it!! expensive but well worth it when tryin to reload 1k+ rounds at a time.

Thanks for all of the info. One thing is for sure, if a man from AL that went to State can do it, so can I!!!
I was looking in Cabellas-Some of their brass & bullets are more than what you can buy factory loads for. Where is a good place to look on here so that I can get an idea of how much $ I will need to save. |

The trick to save some $$$$$$ is to acquire once fired brass!!!!! I actually started saving my brass long before I got my reloading equipment. I would suggest you start saving your brass while you acquire your reloading equipment. I also go and pick up brass at public ranges, you wouldnt believe how many people leave their brass behind. Check your private ranges as well, they may give it away or sell it. Midway has some stuff at good prices, but i recently bought 1K 180 grn. 40 cal. FMJ's for about $109. Always buy primers and powder locally. It is very hard to find a deal good enough online to negate the haz mat shipping fee. Send me a pm and I can give you the link to where I got those bullets. I am not on my personal computer and cant get to it at the moment.

Midway had a 1000 Bullet give away with there Hornaday Lock n Load progressive not to long ago., it still might be going on.
Once I get a good building to work in I probably will invest in a progressive and finally learn how to reload. Because I love to shoot but it cost to dang much!

This way, you don't have to spend time kicking around through the dirt, bumming for shell casings, or spending the time to actually make the rounds. |
