Yep. Blew the first to smithereens, straight through the second and stuck in the third.

Hmmmmmm. Interesting. My 45 went through the same amount of jugs but stayed together. That is why I say that it wasnt scientific and that ymmv. How far away were you from the jug and what gun did you use. Im curious.

Good work! Nice "non-scientific" study. A little disconcerning on the jacket seperation on the 9 tho. I wonder how the federal HST would hold up?

Back in the 90's I used Golden Sabers for my .357 Magnum. But jacket separation has always plagued this round. It is an old technology. I shot out my entire supply in all calibers that I had Golden Sabers and switched to other brands that retain close to 100% of their weight like DPX, EFMJ, and HST.

good pix man, and thanks for the info.
I'm glad I have .45. Even if you use JHP's and they don't expand its still like getting hit in the chest with a damn bowling ball

![]() ![]() Fired from a 5" Colt 1911 into wetpack soaked for 24 hours The +P 185 Golden Saber penetrated 12" and averaged .72 dia The 230gr Golden Saber penetrated 14" and averaged .75 dia The Black Talon is only for comparison (it is .77 dia and goes 12") The 185gr +P suffers from jacket/core separation which isn't a good thing. I will note that the separation occurred towards the end of the penetration. Evidently this doesn't occur with the new bonded Sabers

Nice pics. That black talon looks good.
I also noticed that the separation with the 9mm golden saber happened in the same jug so it was towards the end of the penetration as well. Noob ? alert. Im assuming that a wetpack is a stack of papers or phone books soaked in water.
