"magtech" ammo????

I was able to get outdoors today and put some rounds through my new 40. I had winchester and magtech rounds and when I was using the magtechs the gun jammed twice and when it would function it would shave off the back part of the shell. One hit me in the cheek and one actually landed on my forearm, making me aware of what it was, about 3/4 round slice off the end of the casing.

Is this just the rounds I was firing (magtech made in Brazil) or a mechanical problem with the 40????
Luckily my son and I were wearing eye and ear protection.
But in a home defense or hunting situation this could have been problematic.

When I buy store bought ammo, Magtech is all I buy.. for my 9mm's and my .45 ACP.. I like the Magtech stuff, personally and have not had any said issues. I do not know much about the .40 so I can not comment on that.

I was reading on another thread about the limpwrist jam and this may have been the case since it happened when my son was behind the pistol. The shreading of the rear of the casing had me the most concerned.

I have used a lot of magtech in my XD .45 and have never had any problems. I like the stuff a lot.

Anyone have thoughts on the back of the casing shearing off?
This thing flipped around after it was ejected and landed on my right forearm, right in front of me. I watched it happen.
The first time I was hit in the left cheek.

No evidense or pics at all, it just looked like it had sheared/ shaved a 32nd of an inch off the rear of the shell while it was ejecting , in the form of a C.

I just bought my .40 last week & bought the same (I think) magtech rounds. 180 grain fmc (don't know what the c stands for) but I had the exact same problem w/hot metal pieces coming out. One time the after shooting the receiver stayed open but when I looked into chamber the magazine still had rounds in it? I thought it was strange but did not get alarmed. Now after reading this, I am thinking that it may be the round now.

For .45ACP, 38 Special, .357 Magnum and .380... Magtech is excellent ammo. I have never had a misfire, FTF, or FTE with Magtech in any of my guns. I buy it by the 1,000 round case whenever I can get a good price on it.
