clays and 230grain

Hello all,
I'm looking to load up some 230 gr. FMJ-RN for my friends 45 service, formerly mine, and was wondering how much it takes to cycle the slide??

I'm thinking around 4.2 grains for my 1911, would this work here as well???

First use of this will be a steel challenge match next month.

Tony

Well that would actually be over the max. pressure & into at least +p territory. It's one reason I DO NOT like Clays. The pressure/charge wts. window is vary narrow. As you push max. the pressure curve goes almost straight up. Don't exceed published data & watch your OAL. IMO, there are better powders; WST, HP38 even TightGroup for fast & Unique, Universal or WSF for med.

Clays works great for 230 grain bullets, Ive used it for thousands of rounds.
Im using 3.8 grains with 230 Precision moly bullets.
