XD45 Service and 185gr +P Fed Hydra Shoks (Law Enforcement)
Shot about 25 rounds of a 50 round box of Federal Hydra Shok 185gr +P Law Enforcement brand. These rounds are rated at over 1100fps, from what I'm assuming is a 5" barrel.
All the rounds I fired fed and functioned reliably and the recoil was easily manageable, although the +P loading has noticeably more recoil than other 185 gr HP loads I've fired. I shot steel plates at 25 yds and they shot right at point of aim. I'm very happy with the accuracy and power of this round. Next chance I get I'll test expansion. |

I have a couple boxes. They make just under 1100fps from my Tac. Expansion in wetpack is right @ 75cal. I like these from the Tac & my 1911, but they are abit much from my little OM, still makes almost 1000fps from the 3" bbl.. I think I actually prefer the Rem. 185grGS (std. vel.) They make 950fps, expanding to 73cal & much less recoil.

I'm going to keep trying different ammo for a bit longer. But will likely go with the standard pressure stuff. For me it's not to try to find an ammo that will feed reliably, seems the XD eats all the premium stuff with no problems. I'm just trying to find the most accurate round that's still easy to do a quick followup shot with. 185gr +P is not bad for quick follow ups, but I have had a bit of a problem with 230gr +P. It thumps quite a bit more. But that's not a bad thing either
