Why Order Ammo?

I've been doing alot of searching and can't for the life of me justify buying ammo online. The price differences aren't all that great and if they were, the shipping alone would eat the savings up. Am I missing something here? Please let me know what kind of savings you are all getting by buying ammo online versus some local retailer? Thanks.

I bought 1000 rounds of .45acp online for $209 then add shiping $35. Total $240 give or take. Now i go to the range spent $20 a box X20=1000 rounds Price $400 if the range has ammo for $20 most of the time there ammo is around $24 a box now i save $200 or so. Unless im missing something i think im saving. I can buy almost 2000 rounds online for the price of 1000 at the range or local store.

well it depends ..... that's why you shop around to find the best price.when you know what the price of your ammo is at the stores . then when you look online you find it is cheaper then you opt to buying online.

sometimes online stores have discounts if you order large bulk orders.

when my husband buys 7.62x39 . at stores or gun shows for 1000 rnds it would be $210+ . but if you go to aimsurplus you can get 1000 rnds for $179 with shipping it comes out to $201.

but for my 9mm i just buy from walmart or at gun shows cause i feel they are about the same online

As an example for a purchase in North Carolina...

Dick's Sporting Goods Case Sale Price - 45 ACP 230 gr
1000 rounds at $15.98 per 50 = $319.60
add in NC sales tax and the total is $343.57

Georgia Arms - 45 ACP 230 gr "Canned Heat"
1000 rounds = $270.00
Shipping = $22.00
Total = $292.00 - a savings of $51.57 over my local retailer's "sale price."

Even shipping to AZ, your saving in this example would be $33.57

What if you went to Wally World? I was just on ammunitiontogo and didn't see anthing that lifted my skirt. 500 rounds for $170 comes out to 34 per box on wwb fmj. I can get it at Wally for $26. I can understand your savings when comparing to local gun shops but not when comparing to big stores.

My local place doesn't offer SD ammo in the 50 round boxes so it is way overpriced.

45 auto Hydro shok, 24 in store for 20 rds., 26 online for 50 rounds

I'm sorry guys/gals, I also meant to specify range ammo. I know there's a difference.

500 rnds = 10 * 50 rnd boxes. $170/10 = $17 per 50 rnd box
