I have mixed feelings about it. However, I like the idea that anything that can be done to help law enforcement officials track and apprehend those that would use guns for unlawful activity, and believe it "can" be a good thing. On the other hand, I hope this is not just another infringement on privacy rights. I am interested in reading others' points of view. Thanks for passing along the info ridgerunnr. LS

Well, heres my take on it.......
Something like the AWB back in the mid 90's should be vehemently protested against....stupid, ignorant laws like 10 round mags and banning flash suppressors and bayonets and all that crap i am totally against......and if these Demo-rats that will be taking office come next january think they will pull something like that off again, im sure their Democratic peers in the senate will remind them of how fast they lost their seat at the next election bases solely on their AWB vote..... but as far as Wal Mart logging gun sales and video taping it...i honestly dont have a problem with that at all....i know i wont be robbing any liquor stores with my gun or murdering anybody with it...as long as i can go in, buy my gun and walk out with it...i dont see a problem..... Wal Mart is and always will be a dysfunctional company anyway, but to be honest i wont stop shopping there because they have the lowest prices on food in town, and with the cost of living going through the roof, really dont have a choice and i have never bought a gun at wal mart and never will, but thats my opinion on it

Here is just a couple of Wal-Marts new policies.
_Creating a record and alert system to record when a gun sold at Wal-Mart is later used in a crime. If the purchaser of that gun later tries to buy another gun at Wal-Mart, the system would alert the sales clerk of the prior buy and could refuse to make the sale. _Retaining the recorded images of gun sales in case law enforcement wants to view them later as part of an investigation. ----------------------------------------------- Heard about this last night on the local evening news. This is a thinly disguised gun registration program. Plain and simple. I will not be made the bad guy for simply making a lawful firearm purchase. Geez. Every transfer is blessed by the FBI and if that isn't good enough, what is? Here's a scenario. I buy a new Belchfire Tactical-40. Not the gun I thought it would be so I put it up on GunBroker. Winning bidder is out of state so I ship it to the FFL there and a lawful and successful transfer is done. So far so good. But what happens now if the gun is stolen and is used in a crime? What happens now when the gun is transferred again either FTF or through an FFL and THAT person uses it in a crime? By Wal-Marts system that gun will be traced back to me and I'll be forbidden to purchase an arm even though I had nothing to do with the crime. I am not responsible for someone elses actions. And the recorded images. What controls are in place? How are the images distributed? This just throws open the door of abuse. Wal-Mart can pound dirt for all I care. I'll support the Mom and Pop shops like I always have.

They only sell hunting rifles and shotguns...right? At least that's the way it is around here.
I haven't heard of many crimes committed with a 30.06 lately

My point is it is just another form of gun control..So you buy a gun and sell it then the other owner commits a "crime"..You are then refused a gun purchase based on their information. It is a game of inches people! You keep giving "inches" and pretty soon they have the whole thing!!! What does Walmart consider a crime..some crack head kicks your door in, you give him a dirt nap with yoru trusty Mossberg 12 gauge...No more guns for you if in walmarts opinion you created a crime..IT IS GUN CONTROL..plain and simple. I pass all ATF/FBI paperwork..I dont need Walmarts approval. I speak with my money..they get no more of it and I will persuade averyone I can to do the same. WE HAVE MORE POWER than you think. If all sportman/outdoors men and women would ban together it would defeat stupid measures like this.

Copy/paste from an e-mail a few months ago....
Strange way to 'get to the point" - but the 'point' is what is important !! There was a Chemistry professor in a large college that had some exchange students in the class. One day while the class was in the lab, the Prof noticed one young man (exchange student) who kept rubbing his back, and stretching as if his back hurt. The professor asked the young man what was the matter. The student told him he had a bullet lodged in his back. He had been shot while fighting communists in his native country who were trying to overthrow his country's government and install a new communist government. In the midst of his story, he looked at the professor and asked a strange question. He asked, ' Do you know how to catch wild pigs?' The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line. The young man said this was no joke. 'You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it, and begin to come every day to eat the free corn. When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming. When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again, and you put up another side of the fence. They get used to that, and start to eat again. You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in the last side. The pigs, who are used to the free corn, start to come through the gate to eat, and you slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd. Suddenly, the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught. Soon they go back to eating the free corn. They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity. Can't see the relationship? WAKE UP!!! "A government big enough to give you everything you want, is big enough to take away everything you have." Thomas Jefferson

I'm sorry, but for those of you that don't find this offensive & an infringment of your privacy, I'm calling you out as liberal democrats. How does this help controlling crime? The vast majority of crimes are committed w/ stolen firearms, not legally purchased ones. Maybe a more simple analogy is in order.
Would you mind being filmed everytime & only if you purchased alcohol? After all, it will help prevent drunk driving?!?!
