it doesnt really bother me at all. im more upset about them not selling handguns. the only problem i can see is if i buy a gun and then sell it and it is later used in a crime, then i might not be able to buy a gun there anymore

I don't buy guns at China Direct (Wal Mart), just ammo and the occasional item imported from China especially for me.

I predict that their next step will be logging ammo purchases though...

I just ordered a new Dillon 550..sweet...
I dont get it..ANY gun bought legally can already be traced back to orginal
purchaser..SO whats Walmrts real intentions?
For those that say no big deal..IMO your dead wrong. Just because it doesn't affect you directly does not mean it will HAVE no effect on you. By buying anything there you are IMO supporting and condoning the behavior.
Kinda like buying beer and knowing your neighbors kids are stealing it and doing nothing about it cuz they arent your kids...all good till your the one in the head on collision with your drunk neighbor kids...
sorry rant off.....It's a personal choice

It is another gun control law that won't help anything. Except Alaska, there aren't any handguns sold at WM, just hunting firearms. The firearm purchases are already called into NICS and their is already a paper trail. Why does WM have to play big brother and do their "record keeping"? There is no way that I will purchase a firearm from WM at any time. I am undecided if I will continue to purchase ammo from them.

heres my issue with walmart and box stores in general

yes things are cheeper there, but what happens when local gun shops can no longer stay in business because everyone is buying guns at walmart (or other big box stores)? the small local gun shop is less likely to put in new screening/restrictions just because of public presure like walmart and other box stores. thats why I don't shop a walmart. I hate to think of the day when box stores are the only place for us to get guns, and then public opinion on guns makes a drastic change/ or political presure causes the box stores to decide its not worth keeping guns...then what? a local gun shop will always sell guns becuase its all they sell, but box stores have other options.

Read this thread.

Wal-Mart to log guns sold, then used in crimes

WalMart is not doing anything new. As a FFL they are already REQUIRED to keep a record of a gun sale. And if you did not know they had video cameras then you are a fool.

The only person who got taken here is Bloomberg. He thinks he got something out of Walmart. And truth be told he got taken.

Did he really think that Walmart just sold a gun and did not do any paperwork? Paperwork they are required to keep forever?

When was the last time any of you bought a gun from a dealer and did not fill out a 4473? If you did not know that the 4473 was kept on file then you are a fool.

What does Walmart consider a crime..some crack head kicks your door in, you give him a dirt nap with yoru trusty Mossberg 12 gauge...No more guns for you if in walmarts opinion you created a crime..IT IS GUN CONTROL..plain and simple. I pass all ATF/FBI paperwork..I dont need Walmarts approval. I speak with my money..they get no more of it and I will persuade averyone I can to do the same. WE HAVE MORE POWER than you think. If all sportman/outdoors men and women would ban together it would defeat stupid measures like this.

I know, Let's require cameras in the dressing rooms so if a criminal commits a crime with a red shirt on, we can convict them easier if we have video of them trying it on. I volunteer for the job watching the cameras at Victoria's Secrets.......

Wal-Mart can bite me
Besides that store is only good for a nacho's session as you venture into the concealed carry world.

A photo to make a purchase .... I'm with the guy who thinks they should do this when purchasing alcoholic beverages, and yes I see this as an experiment in gun-control ...... Ever wonder why Homeland Security has an office at Wal-Mart HQ ???

They are doing something new. Normally when you make a purchase, you fill out the form, and it's filed away. Now Wally World will get a list of guns used in a crime each week (month? day?) and compare that with the list of items sold. When there is a match, they flag it and .... what? Who knows what they will do with this new list of "suspects"! It's no longer a 4473, so they can sell it or post it in the paper, whatever they feel like doing. How would you like to open the paper someday and see "John Smith bought a rifle and it was later used in a crime" with your picture and address ?

Question for the original poster ... What do you do for a living? (in general terms)
