Old Ammo
I have a box of old ammo, Federal 9 mm JHP. It is really old, as in 1992. It has been indoors in a drawer all this time. The cartidges aren't as shiny as when new, but there are no signs of corrosion or anything like that present. The question I have is whether it is safe to shoot this. Don't want to blow up my XD or have any other mishaps with it. So I need some input. I am thinking not to shoot it, but then again if it's okay, why waste it ?

I'd shoot it even if it was dated 1952 and looked like you say it does.
Ammo lasts a long time when stored properly. Only concern would be if it were corroded from humidity or moisture. I shot off a box of 1960's 410 shotgun shells the other day and last trip to the range I finished some remy 9mm that had to date back to the 70's.. |

I just fired off some 12ga. in my new Winchester Defender. The shells have been around since the 60s or 70s. They worked great. Been in the closet (in a house w/o ac for a few years) in the boxes and a paper grocery bag.

Thanks for the input - I'm going to shoot it up and am looking forward to doing so.
