Unless you are working on an action where the breech is inaccessible, a bore snake is just about worthless.

Well Mercmar?? You got a good explanation for this one? I want to hear it cuz I have a Boresnake for each caliber I own and I love them. They are fast and I don't have to mess with patches. If I want to clean the snake itself I just put them into a delicates bag and wash them in the clothes washer. I hang mine to dry and I don't even need to do that often. If you are using them on a barrel that you feel is "delicate" then you can remove the brushed fairly easily and not worry about the barrel. Not that the phosphor bronze brushes with aluminum cores will hurt modern steel barrels but hey some people are picky. The rest of the gun is cleaned in the conventional manner and the barrel takes one pass vs the several passes the patch and brush method takes.
