.223 Ammo Prices

I have a buddy that will hopefully coming down to visit in a few weekends and he'll be bringing his Ar along w/ him. We plan on taking the AR, my shotty, and my xd out and shoot around. What are some places to order some .223 for his AR at a decent price? Bulk?

Any place that sells WOLF. Though it may be back ordered I haven't checked in a while. If that's the case you may have to buy locally as it may not come in on time.

If his rifle shoots Wolf. I've had ARs with SS target grade barrels and Wolf wouldn't completely seat it's self in the breach.

My current AR eats up Wolf like it was ment for it. It all depends on the rifle. To save yourself some $$ and time, check with your friend if Wolf works in his weapon.

+1 on there is no decent price .223 ammo anymore.

If you include shipping prices, the cheapest Wolf ammo for me is Ammoman. He has it shipped to my door for $270 per 1000. They beat Aim by about $10.

If you don't like steel case ammo, Aim has M193 Prvi for $330 + shipping. You figure the used brass alone is worth about $70 so it's a wash in price with Wolf, but you get actual M193 and brass ammo instead of steel case stuff.

Yes... yes it is.

It made it first trip to the range a few weeks back. I put about 400 or so rounds down range (a mix of old TCW Russian steal ammo, S&B and some Federal .223) The only issue it had was 3 jams with TCW (I think this is wolf before it was known as wolf) at the start. I seemed the Ammo would get stuck in the chamber, requiring a FIRM rack of the handle to get it loose. This only happened with that ammo in the first one or two mags, after that it shot all the ammo fine and with no more problems. I believe it was the ammo.

It shortness and closeness to the body makes it easy to maneuver and feels more controllable to me than my AR. I do like it. It is a bit on the thicker side, but not too bad. I liked it even more after my range visit. It just felt like it handels well and easy to keep on target. I have to take it out again sometime to solidify the feeling. I think I'd prefer it for Home Defense because it so maneuverable and compact.
