Pmc .223
Just picked up a couple boxes of " PMC BRONZE" in .223. anybody use this ammo before? Its 55gr FMJ. Its the cheapest I could find locally at $9.99 a box. I think Wolf is cheaper at Gander Mtn.

i bought three boxes at the range a few weeks ago and had MAJOR cycling problems, some rounds stove piped others got caught on the charging handle so i had to pry it out with a knife. i was unable to clear the jam by pulling the handle back since i was unable to move the handle. ive shot wolf and other ammo and never had a problem. even with the price of ammo i ended up giving the last box away to some guy at the range, i didnt stay to see if they would cycle in his

I used to sale PMC ammo back in the 90's before the bronze line was made. It was good 55gr target ammo. I think it was like 3.00 per box then.

I may give it a shot today to see how it does. Ive read its made in Korea. Sounds like it pretty weak sauce and not hot enough to cycle the weapon properly.

Never shot PMC but I had little luck with UMC and subsequently sold it all and bought 5.56 surplus.

Ok I'm back. All 40 rounds of the PMC Bronze shot and cycled fine. Did notice some odd marks on the casings though, they all had a slight nick in them. The ammo was actually pretty accurate as well. I'm also using a new buffer spring which hasn't really been broken in yet, and it still cycled fine. I'm running a high powered extractor also, and could see clearly where the extractor was gripping the hell out f the casing.

It's OK.. I find it to be a little dirty in .223, just like their pistol ammo. PMC regularly exhibites cycling issues in my pistols/rifle as stated above (issue @ ~250rds or so), though it's accuracy isn't too bad compared to some of alternative & cheaper offerings. It's fine for plinking IMO, if just under Federal AE in quality for cheap ammo.
I haven't had a problem w/ Rem. UMC Packer stated as of yet - somewhat clean and accurate, but knock on wood. hope this helps, nikon.
