Woohooo for my .308!

As I have posted in the past, I bought a NIB Remmy 700 SPS varminter in .308 flavor. I personalized it with a new stock and all that. I was given a bunch of surplus ammo that grouped from .500 to 3.00 inches. I tried some 15 year old reloads I still had that were 110 grain Sierra varminters and shot this group of 10 rounds...

Well, the 110 grain bullets have a real crappy BC so I went up to the 125 Speer TnT bullets. I started with Reloader 10X and got velocities in the 3200 range. Accuracy was around 3/4-1" MOA. Friday night I loaded up some more rounds with new brass (Norma) and some 10X and got ok groups. I also loaded some up with some old IMR 4895 that I had laying around, I think this load is a keeper.
This was my resulting 3 shot group using 50.2 grains...

Im getting 3107 fps. out of it which is slower but I'll take the accuracy over speed when im only loosing 100 fps. I reloaded the cases and im headed out tomorrow morning again to get a solid zero on the rifle, as well as a higher round count group, and then heading off for a coyote/groundhog hunt in the evening.
I really couldnt be happier with this rifle, considering its a stock action and barrel oo:
Who says a Remmy wont shoot out of the box

Sweet. I'm still working on a favorite load for my 700 SPS Tactical .308. I'm using 168 sierra match bullets and varget as of now. It does fairly well with 110 grain hornady v-max over win 748 as well.

nice grouping. i get groups like that with my rem 700 bdl with 7.62nato rounds my grandfather gave me. can't shoot those too often though, maybe once a year i will shoot ten or so...i haven't broken into the rounds still in the belt, don't know that i ever will, but I LOVE the .308 round!

I have some Hornady 168 grain match BTHP's but have not tried them. I have a 1-12" twist so Im sure its too slow to stabilize those.
