what wildcat cartridge would you create?
well im sure im not the only one that has different ideas for different new cartridges that you think would be cool. but then most of the time you find out it has already been made.
so even though im sure most of the ideas we will come up with might have allready been made by at least one person. but thats ok just as long as it isnt a REALLY common wildcat and even if it is thats ok so just put down what you would have made if someone were to make it for free for you and that includes the dies and barrel and brass and everything else all you need is to think it up. oh and lets say you want some sort of .224" caliber bullet but you want to use a bullet weight that isnt currently made thats ok just say what weight but it has to be with in reason. a 300 grain .224" bullet just realistic here is mine. its really not needed but neither are 2/3s of new cartridges. well i want to knec down a 408. chey tac to a 7mm VLD bullet that weighs about 200 grains. berger makes a 180 grain VLD bullet with a BC of .684. so a 200 grain bullet isnt out of the question but you would need a 1:8-1:9 twist so the bullet isnt unstable. ( i know a faster bullet can stabilize in a slower twist but i dont know what it would take to stabilize the 7mm at 4000) well i got my 4000 FPS guess by takeing the 3500 FPS with a 305 grain bullet and subtracted that from the 419 grain round that goes 3000 FPS and i got a difference of 114 grains and a differnce of 500 fps so i then took the 500 fps and divided it by 114 grains so i could find out how many FPS you gained for each grain of bullet weight you took away. well that came out to 4.38fps gained for every grain of bullet weight you took it away. so i then subtracted 200 (weight of my 7mm bullet) from 305 (the weight of the408 chey tac round that goes 3500 FPS) and i came up with 105 grain differnce between the 408 chey tac 305 grain bullet and my 7mm well i then multiplied 4.38 (FPS per grain) and 105 (differnce between bullet weightand came up with about 4000 fps sorry about the long post i just wanted to explain everything) and i got a rough guess of 4000fps with the 200 grain |

What if I wanted to create something like this?
![]() ![]() The round on the left is a .243. My gunsmith friend Randy created these jewels. I'll let some of you speculate about them before I say exactly how they were made. That is .50 BMG brass. He calls this round the 22-50 GMC Magnum and 22-50 GMC Short Magnum. We have a friend named Gary Martin who is all about the overbore cartridges. The more overbore the cartridge is, the more Gary likes it, so Randy created this for him. GMC stands for Gary Martin Cremator. I'll have some more specs for ya'll later, but thought that this might make some of you laugh. |

Thats a whole lot of powder to try and burn before the bullet would be out of the barrel. My thinking is that the caliber is too small and it would create a long burning flame and would probably erode the throat in a VERY short amount of time.

Just means your going to need a 46" barrel... Should be great for hunting deer out to 3-4 miles.

I want a 7.62X39 necked down to a 7.00X39. Lighten the barrel and woosh I have a good version of an AK47 (prefer a VZ58 platform though)

that does sound pretty cool. cheap brass (allthough most of it is steel or isnt able to be reloaded). allthough i could be biased with my love of the 7mm

300WSM necked down to 6.5mm should perform better than a .264 win mag with a shorter case.
