30 cal. 125 gr. ballistic tip bullet question
I receieved two boxes of Nosler ballistic tip bullets in 30 caliber. These bullets are 125 grains. My question is, are they good for deer or only for varmints? Im either gonna load them for my 30-06 or .308 hunting rifles. Ive never shot a bullet grain this light and I've never heard of anyone using a bullet grain this low. Are they good for anything such as deer or are they mainly for light recoil practice rounds. Not too sure so any imput will be nice. Thank you.

The only thing I can tell you is they are marketed as Noslers Hunting Line
Nosler: bullets, ammunition, rifles, brass, and reloading data. sorry I couldnt be of more help. This may help somewhat MidwayUSA - Read Product Reviews Last edited by BlackOnyx; 03-21-2008 at 02:25 AM. |

i would say you can use them on deer
a 25-06 avg. weight is around 120 so it seems like it would perform almost as well as that and the 25-06 is a perfectly capable deer gun. but i would use at least 140 if i had to go buy them but if i allready had the 125 i would use them but no elk and no far shots either! its just not humane |

Thanks for the imput. The reviews from Midway answered a lot of questions about this grian of bullet. Seems like its a fairly flat shooter and good for deer. Now I have somethnig to do tommarow...reload!!!!

I picked up a couple of boxes of 125's, one is the Speer TnT and the other is is more of a big game constructed bullet (forget the manufacture). im still working up a load but in my 1-12 twist, they do ok but im still not happy with my load.
From the reports I have read, if you push them too fast, they will splash instead of penetrate deep. I would NOT take a shoulder shot with the Noslers, but this is my own opinion.
