Anyone use Federal EFMJ?
I live in NJ where hollow points are illegal. I have a XD .45 service model and I was wondering if anybody has any feedback on them. Thanks

Sounds like it's your only option.

hollow nose
I checked the laws. Hollow nosed ammunition is illegal to carry, but not have. You are allowed to have it in your home, to shoot at the range with, and hunt with. It didnt say anything about using it for self defense but a cop my friend talked to in our town said it is illegal to use for self defense. With that said Expanding Full Metal Jackets are legal. I'm just trying to see what other people think of them. I have an xd 45 so thats what i would be using them in.

I have used them in my xd40 tactical, bdm 9mm and in my Springfield 1911 (mil-spec). Feeding was great in all three; no problems as you would expect. They are +p, so a little snappier recoil, but not drastic. I have tried a few different targets to test expansion; nothing formal, just for fun (water jugs, old organic chem textbooks). Expansion seemed uniform and core stayed attached to jacket, so I see no reason not to go with these if hollow points are a no-no in NJ.

I've been meaning to get some to replace my Win Rangers for my bed side XD. I saw a study that showed hollow points fill up with drywall, didn't expand, and penetrated decently well. Like 10-12 panels. While the drywall caused the EFMJ's to expand, and they only went through 5-6 panels. I liked that much better. While both had plenty of pentration and expansion in all the tests using ballistics gel and such.
