Wolf Ammo ?

I had 500+ rounds given to me 40sw. I have never used it before other then 223 in my Bushmaster. I did not realy care for it.
Pro's and con's in my XD40. I'm thinking about tradeing it off for a few boxes of good ammo. ???????

Is the powder corrosive? I know we have had a few boxes of wolf before that was. Our ARs eat it up, but I've heard bad results of their pistol ammo. I'd trade it off.

I used it once in my xd9sc... didn't have any problems with it. Never used it again cuz I save all my brass... just didn't realize when I bought it that it had steel cases.

My Bushy liked it. I just did not like the red gunk from around the primers. After 1000 rounds it took fore ever cleaning it out with a dental pick and q-tips.
That was 10 to 11 years ago. It is most likely better now.

I will never buy Wolf again for my pistols, or for my rifle now after my pistol experience.

I picked up a box of 50 in .40 S&W for my Beretta 96. I ran about 25-30 rounds through and then I had a FTE. This gun had 100% up until then, with zero failures ever. Well, the casing was stuck in the barrel so hard that I had to disassemble the gun and take it to the guys up front. I don't know how they got it out. Anyway, I put the gun back together and fired another one, same thing. This time I started looking the gun over and found that the first casing broke the extractor off because it was stuck in the barrel.

After this experience, I found out that Wolf puts some kind of lacquer on their ammo (???) to waterproof them, and when heated up it can get really sticky. So, I had to order a new extractor, yada yada yada, not a huge ordeal, but I'm not gonna shoot it through my stuff anymore.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong about the coating on the ammo, but that's what I heard and it kinda makes sense.

BTW, I still have the other half of that box of 50, and it's been a couple of years...it's a good door stop, LOL.

It's dirty and generally speaking less accurate (in my experience) than other store-bought brands. It will not blow your gun up, break the extractor, melt your slide shut, burn your hands off, etc.

I've used both the pistol and the rifle ammo in my XD's M&P's and Stags, even my M1 Carbine. The recent stuff (the last three years or so) they have used a polymer coating to seal the ammo but did not have the same issues as their older green cased lacquer stuff. That being said, I shot a ton of the green rounds as well and never had an FTF or FTE.

Man, I think that qualifies for understatement of the year

Ive shot 200 rounds of it through my first XD (9mm), and that was years ago. I wont shoot it anymore because its so damn dirty (and this coming from someone who rarely cleans any of their XD's).
