I picked up a box of 50 in .40 S&W for my Beretta 96. I ran about 25-30 rounds through and then I had a FTE. This gun had 100% up until then, with zero failures ever. Well, the casing was stuck in the barrel so hard that I had to disassemble the gun and take it to the guys up front. I don't know how they got it out. Anyway, I put the gun back together and fired another one, same thing. This time I started looking the gun over and found that the first casing broke the extractor off because it was stuck in the barrel.

After this experience, I found out that Wolf puts some kind of lacquer on their ammo (???) to waterproof them, and when heated up it can get really sticky. So, I had to order a new extractor, yada yada yada, not a huge ordeal, but I'm not gonna shoot it through my stuff anymore.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong about the coating on the ammo, but that's what I heard and it kinda makes sense.

BTW, I still have the other half of that box of 50, and it's been a couple of years...it's a good door stop, LOL.

they used to sue a lacquer on the ammo....stopped a couple years ago.....unless you are shooting the military classic.....which i think still has the lacquer.....

I'll go find the box and see which it is, but I don't think it's the MC. If it's not lacquer, any ideas what would cause that?

It is good ammo in an AK or a SKS but would not use it in any other gun I have! it is a very dirty ammo [powder wise!]

the steel case, i used to shoot russian .22LR ammo out of an old marlin and the steel cased ammo would expand after ever shot and not eject.

im sure part of it had to do with a weak ejector, that coupled with the steel case ammo, with waxed cases would cause my bolt action marlin to not eject the russian shells. it would only happen after around 20+ rounds though with a cold rifle it shot fine with it only once it heated up!

i could shoot brass cassed ammo out of it all day long and not have one problem but when i pulled the ol russian stuff out no go.

Well i did it. I sold the 500+ rounds of Wolf for $50.00. It did not cost me anythig in the first place. I gave $25.00 back to the guy that gave it to me in the first place. I know i did not have to, but that is the way i am.

Good man. That's what I do when I'm in similar situations. The world needs more good, honest people.

Oh yeah, I just checked and it is the plain-Jane Wolf, not the Mil Classic.

Never had any problems shooting it out of my guns but yeah it is real dirty stuff but then again I like cleaning my guns so it didn't bother me much. Haven't shot it in My XD 9mm yet though. I've used it in the RIA 1911,taurus PT145 subcompact, cimmeron lightning revolver, and a really cheap P.O.S. chinese sks I had. all of them but the sks ran through it no problem

I wont use it based on one experience. At the range with a friend, while I was shooting in the next lane, I noticed giant puffs of smoke coming from the next lane over. I glanced around the partition and noticed he was shooting Wolf. He confirmed that there was much cleaning involved after he would shoot it.

WWB is cheap enough and runs fine.
