45ACP vs Tiger

There's going to be albino tigers at the Zoo this week end and my three sons want to go see them. Handlers will be bringing out "animal ambassadors" to interact with guests....so what do you guys think +p hard nose? Perhaps steel core?

Any takers? Grain vs. energy? FMJ vs. hollowpoint? I would think a big kitty wouldn't be much tougher than a man to punch through. If I don't hear otherwise I'll just use 230 grn +P hollowpoints.
Although I'm sure everything will be fine I'd rather not be on the next "When Animals Attack".

1. I don't think I could bring myself to shoot an animal as magnificent as a tiger... Well, if it were ATTACKING me I suppose I could, but I wouldn't be happy about it. Killing a tiger isn't an emotionally easy thing to do. It'll scar you for life.

2. Tigers don't attack, they fight back. So the likelihood if needing to kill it will be minimal.

3. If you DO need to kill it, PLEASE try to make it as quick and painless as possible for the poor cat. They are nature's nobility, and MUST be treated with the utmost respect.

4. If you absolutely HAVE to, I'd go with the +P's and a steel core. You've got a lot of bone to penetrate there. In fact, I'd alternate rounds between steel core and jacketed lead, just to be on the safe side. Better yet, don't you or any of your friends have a .44 magnum you can use for the day???

WTF? You could kill another human being no problem, but killing an animal is something you dont know if you could bring yourself to do?? "Killing a tiger isn't an emotionally easy thing to do. It'll scar you for life." Killing another man isn't an inconsequential act, either, but we discuss self defense here all the time so that we can be PREPARED. This man doesnt WANT to kill a tiger, but he wants to be prepared to be able to protect his family if need be... You make it seem like he just signed up to go on a poaching expedition in Africa.....

My advice... Go eat some tofu.

Sadly, you're right. I respect animals much more than I respect humans. Tigers don't break into my house in the middle of the night and steal my tv, either.

I hit a dog once with my truck on my way home from work (as a police reserve, at the time). I ripped him in half. When I got out, I saw the he was trying to pull himself away by his 2 front paws. He was whining and crying. I had no choice but to put 2 bullets in his head. It was NOT an easy thing to do, and it DID scar me for life. When I got home that night, I cried myself to sleep. To this day it still gives me nightmares. He was a beautiful, beautiful German Sheppard, and more importantly, a member of someone's family.

And if you don't think the same could apply to tigers, I suggest you visit this site: tiger_Qadesh Home Page

Naturally he's going to protect himself if he needs to, I would to.

The post was actually meant to make you grin, not get angry.

And finally, tofu is for hippys. Hippys do not carry Springer 45's. I do. Therefore I am not a hippy. If you told me that in person, I'd smack you in the head Then throw tofu at you!

If you have more respect for animals than humans, you have your own problems... I'm not angry.. It's just rediculous that you would have this GREAT respect for a tiger, or a dog, but not a real man or woman that has a mother and father, possibly brothers and sisters, children, and their own PETS to care for. I mean, if you kill a human, think about how lonely their pet is going to be!!

Ok... THAT made me laugh! (but just a little)

Look, I'm not saying that I don't respect humans or could kill them easily, but let's face facts. As a whole, humans are pricks. It would be a lot easier for me to kill someone trying to rape my mother than it was for me to kill that dog.

Let's face the facts. Humans are animals. Just "smart ones". We have the same animal instincts, and are inclined to do things that will benefit us. A crackhead will steal your TV to buy crack. I've seen videos of alcoholic monkeys that will steal alcoholic drinks from carribean beach resorts. Bears will smell food in your camp site and take it. Bears will break into your car to get something tasty just the same as a tweaker will break into your car to get something 'valuable'. I couldn't even imagine the magnitude of "rapes" going on in the animal kingdom, because it's not reported... All I'm saying is that animals are not morally superior as a whole. They just do what they have to do to survive, same as humans. And just because some humans are evil, does not mean that all of them are.
