Ammo Storage
I have a lot of different ammo. Where do you store it? What kind of container do you use? I have seen different kinds of ammo boxes and wondered about getting some. I currently store mine with my guns in the safe. How long does ammo last? I try to rotate by shooting the oldest first.

If stored properly it should last a long, long time.
I use surplus .50 cal ammo boxes, just check the seal on them and make sure it's still good, and make sure the container itself is not compromised (holes, rust, etc). Keep in a dry area and you should be good to go.

Just keep it dry and cool. I use military ammo cans as well.

Where do you get your cans and how much are they? Do you think the plastic ones at Cabela's are the same?

You can usually find the ammo cans at gun shows for really cheap. I think I even saw them at Gander Mountain. You should be able to find them for around $5 a piece. The ones at Cabelas are the same idea, just a different material. I don't have any of them, but I was looking at them in the Cabelas shooting catalog last night and they look like they should be about the same size.

I get the metal military cans from my local gun shop for anywhere from $3.95-$7.95 depending on the size.

I use military 50 cal ammo cans. I got a good deal on a bunch of them from ammunitiontogo.com awhile back.

I use 50 & 30 cal ammo cans with desicant packs inside. I get them from a local militaria store. Ammo will last for decades if stored correctly.

I store my milsurp stuff in the factory wood cases/steel cans it came in. The newer stuff, I take out of the cardboard boxes and store in MTM dry boxes. To me, these boxes are a better quality than the one's Cabela's has and they are also alot cheaper at Academy.
