New found lead ...
at my uncles tire shop he's a manager for . I asked him for the used wheel weights and he told me he has about 1000 lbs of old "sears wieghts " brand new still in boxes that I could have . I brought home about 50 lbs of it to check it out to see if it is lead and they appear to be . I could bend them and they would break at the bend . he works for ntb and he said they are a liability to use and he was gonna toss them in the trash . Does any one know anything about the old "sear's weights " he is talking about ? i dont know if he was talking about the sears store or not . and also would it be worth anything to try to cast or sell ?

I'd be more than happy to come down and help you get rid of those weights.
I don't know anything about a "Sears" wheel weight but alot of the larger places like Discount Tire send them back to their warehouse and they sell them to a recycler, so getting them NIB would be great. There has also been talk of legislation being passed where only a "Licensed Recycler" would be able to take possession of used lead from tire stores, gun ranges, etc. It hasn't happened yet, but I don't imagine it's far away with all of the "ground water contamination" (the same garbage that some places are using to try to close down outdoor shooting ranges). Until that happens, I am trying to get my hands on all that I can. Wheel weights are actually better for "hard cast " bullets than the lead out of your average range backstop since the WW's have tin mixed in. One thing you need to make sure of is that if you decide to melt the weights down for ingots, you flux the mix with parrafin or wax. That keeps the tin in suspension (mixed). With new weights, there should be no contaminants so you don't want to skim what will appear to be "dross". It's not, it's the tin, and that's a good thing. Whatever you do though, don't let him toss them! I was serious about driving down and getting them. (It's only a 3 hour drive one way.
