I didnt realize .380 was sooo expensive.

I've never owned a .380, ive never bought .380 ammo. Well being that I have a Ruger LCP .380 on order I thought now's a good time to start buying/stocking up on some plinking rounds for it. I make a stop at my local Walmart only to find WWB .380 100 round packs for $29.xx WOW!!! I was shocked, I thought .380 being a smaller round it would be a lot cheaper, kinda like a .22 round if you will.... This stuff is as expensive as WWB .45acp 100 round.. What's the deal? I know ammo prices have driven way up over the past years but why is this tiny little round even near in price with 45acp? A .380 round is smaller then 9mm, why isn't it cheaper? Is .380 that "popular? really?

Oh and then get this, I look over at the .25 cal only to see it on sale/clearance for $5 a box (originally $17) should I have bought a 25 instead? .

I'm still crossing my figures that the increase in ammo is all a huge marketing scheme and prices will eventually lower with time. War,metal, china, i'm not buying it, im bull headed..sorry.

A friend of mine and I were just talking earlier today about this. It's BS.

I have read threads here and on other sites within the last year or so and people have commented about the high price of .380, so I don't believe it is anything new.

I don't have one and have never shot one, so this is only what I recall reading.

Me too....but it isn't any cheaper for US made ....the East Block stuff can be fairly cheap, but it's gotta be mail order (plus shipping) or gun shows.

I just paid $18 (or so) for Federal 9x18

As for .380 and .32 being expensive, I think it's just that they not manufactured in huge quantities like 9mm and .45acp - 9mm is BY FAR the most popular cartridge....but even that has doubled in price at Walmart in the past year or so.

Don't know a thing about .25auto...except other than possibly feeding better in a semi-auto it has nothing over a .22 in energy or anything else I can think of.

I had no idea .380 was that expensive. I was just showing my Mom the new LCP, and she like it a lot, but she won't be happy about ammo prices.

380 has always beed expensive. They most likely don't make much because the demand is low, so guess what happens to the price ?

Besides dasanii, the LCP is a pocket gun. It's not really a range toy. Once you have it broken in, you most likely won't shoot it that much.

True, very true. I just need to figure out which hollow points it likes to eat, so lets just say atleast $100 to figure that out..
