For the more expensive people out there I like 5gr of VV N320. That is a very soft load and still makes major. The internet is a great source for getting data. Most of the powder companies have their data online. I use the Hodgdon resource quite a bit.

For the price and quality, get precision bullets out of Texas. They are fully covered with moly and shoot clean and reload very easy and are about the same price as lead bullets. You people that shoot glocks, can still shoot these. Buy them in a case, shipped to your door and reload them. Great price, great performance. Hodgdon powder is a great source of information on line for powder charges. I have found that Win 231 and unigue are very consistant loads, but they are dirty. I would stick with Win WST or clays for a 45 or use tight group or universal if you want to use one powder for several pistol calibers.

I have used their 230 Round nose and 200 SWC. They were both very accurate and clean.

I use Tightgroup powder because I use it for 9mm and 40SW so I buy it in bulk. My favorite powder was VV N320.

I run all Dillon. Reloader, dies. I have had all else in the past, and got tired of tweeking and buying more plastic parts and just shut up and coughed up the extra money and bought the best reloader made. Haven't regreted it at all. I used to reload a lot of shotgun shells, so I had a lot of Hodgdon universal powder left over, so I used that in both 9mm and 45. When that ran out, I used Hodgdon clays for both. The 115 9mm are a little snappy but shoot and run great. Heavy 45 are awesome with hodgdon clays. The heavier the bullet the more you will like clays. Another powder, Winchester Super Target (WST) is a very clean burning consistant powder for 45. Many of the competitive shooters I know use Hodgdon tightgroup. They say that it is developed in a way that it is not "position sensitive". Meaning that if you have a little bit of powder in a 45 and the gun powder in not up against the primer with you fire the gun, gun velosities don't change much at all. We tested velosities from powder to powder and never saw enough of a change to give that "thought" a lot of weight. My tactical XD 45 doesn't like LSWC. You would half to trim the brass down to get the end of the brass to be below the shoulder of the bullet to feed consistantly. I have bought and will continue to shoot 200Gr round nose flat point (smooth shoulders) through my XD with just over 5.2gr clays. Nice soft consistant load that does make major power factor. I think I am going to switch my 9mm loads to a heavier bullet and get a softer main spring to soften up the recoil, but the bullets are more expensive. The secret with the "black (moly) bullets" is that every so often you will have to take a 50/50 mixture of vinegar and hydrogen peroxide to clean it out, but besides that you won't get a better bullet to reload, shoot and have that accuracy for the price. FYI
