9mm Lead OAL???
I'm going to be loading a new batch of 9mm with some lead I got from Midstates cast bullets. They are 115gr lead RN. I was loading magtec 115gr FMJ at 1.140" OAL and they worked flawlessly.
The new lead bullets are actually 0.035" shorter than the FMJ bullets. I load 5.6gr of Unique. Is it safe to assume that I can load these lead bullets to 1.100"? This would basically put the bullet the same depth in the case, but the OAL would be shorter. Any comments?

OAL has less to do with the actual length of the bullet, the length of the bearing portion is what's important. A 124gr LTC has a longer bearing surface than a 124grLRN. They load to diff. OAL. I would load them longer & try them. Too long is never a problem as long as they feed, too short is where you get into pressure problems.

I guess my point is that if I load them to 1.140" OAL like I was before, these new bullets will be barely seated in the case.

I reload those bullets... at 1.100 OAL. Haven't had any problems. I use pistol powder and IMR 700X.

That would obviously affect your feed/function. I don't have any exp. w/ that exact bullet but as long as you are not using a max. load, seat them deep enough to allow for a good bullet fit. Check them for function & use that OAL.
