The 'O' frame single stage press is significantly stronger than a Lee turret. The better single stage presses shine when you are loading the larger rifle rounds or having to form brass from one caliber to another. For the average handloader, the turret is a good place to start. Me, I would rather go w/ a good single stage, buy the best / heaviest you can afford. You never know where your shooting hobby will take you. Then if you want volumn pistol rounds, jump to the progressive.

My first press was a single stage, RCBS Rockchucker Plus and was a great way to learn and I still use it for rifle reloading. I went to a Dillon 550B and dramatically increased my production. Have used Lee dies and a Lee Crimping die with great success. Have heard lots of good things about their products as well. Enjoy!!

I just purchased the .223 Lee classic turret kit from kempfs and am very happy with it. Since this is my first time reloading I took the auto indexer out and it functions like a single stage and when I more comfortable I will use the auto index and will be able to breeze through some rounds. Oh and thier are a lot of steps for .223 case prep and instructions on ar15.com. Since I don't shoot that much I felt the turret was perfect for me in that I could whip some rounds out if I wanted to or make more precise rounds for precision rifles.

I too am looking at getting a .223 kit from Kempfs. I have never reloaded either. Was it too hard to learn and get the hang of? Have you shot your first batch of rounds yet?
