Gee, might explain why virtually every FTF, FTE, etc. thread on this forum involves that ammo too, y'think?

The 550 count boxes of rimfire WalChi World sells are also factory seconds. So that lovely institution sells ammo that is seen by the manufacturers as unfit to sell through their reputable distributors. This is why I shop mom 'n pops and encourage others to do the same. Otherwise, the little shops that carry quality gear go under and then when (The Great) Wall Mart stops selling guns and ammo (and that day is coming whether you want to believe it or not), you don't have anywhere to get your gun goodies.

And not everyone who works at a range or behind a gun counter is a drooling imbecile trying to pass off their opinion as fact or keep you from buying from a large faceless corporation that could give a rat's ass about your 2A rights...some of us actually know what we're talking about and may even know more than you about some things (whoda' thunk it!).

I had occasion to count a couple of 100 round boxes a couple of weeks ago. With two open boxes, I found I had 203 rounds.

I'm guessing quality control isn't all that great.

If the guy had an I.Q. higher than that of an unborn rhinoceros, he'd be on your side of the counter.

He went on and on that they are not the same quality as the 50 rnd. ammo. "Ever notice that gun shops dont sell 100 rnd packs?" he said. Anyone know anything about this?
Ive had people tell me this several times. And yes, one range did have the 100 round packs. I do think its a different load though. Ive compared the 50 round ammo to the 100 round ammo, and it does appear to be different. Ill tell ya what... in the tons of WWB ammo Ive shot, I just recently had a dud with a bad primer. The 100 round boxes are GTG IMHO

I use to shoot it all the time and never had a problem. Still have a few boxes left. I never took the time to examine them enough to find a difference.

Just an FYI.....

I just had one in a box that had the casing slit back on one side during bullet seating when manufactured.

If these were counted when boxed, it would be pretty simple to see.

Then someone at Winchester is blowing smoke. I personally would doubt that a company with thier reputation would risk packaging "seconds" without at least saying so and why chance the liability?

Here is the response I got from my e-mail to Winchester on the 100 round box seconds question:

Thank you very much for taking the time to contact us here at Winchester Ammunition. We are always glad to hear from our many friends and customers who share in the shooting sport.

no - we do not have seconds

Thank you again for contacting us here at Winchester Ammunition. If you should require additional information, do not hesitate to contact us.

Sincerely,

Hmmm...I tried several different phone number trying to reach people about this. I was unsucsessful in getting the e-mail to work for them as well. I am glad you were. I was finally able to get someone on the manufacturing floor. While he continued to call the ammo "cosmetically deffective", the fact remained that some ammo kicked out by the automated system is hand inspected and repackaged.

I shoot WWB .40 like it's heroin. I actually use it for USPSA as well since I don't have a press up and running at the moment. Works just fine for me. Maybe he was just pulling your chain?
