Quick question about used primers

Real quick question, may seem stupid but im new at reloading....

Do used primers, the ones i have knocked out of spent casing have any use?

AND

Is it dangerous in any way shape or form to discard them in regular garbage if not useful for anything?

Ummm I use to throw mine out in the garbage until I found a recycling place close by that recycles brass... so now they go in my brass bucket... the weight adds up quick. I usually just get a dustpan full of brass when I go to the range and spend the evening sorting it... all other calibers and bad cases go in my brass bucket for recycling.

Sort and save those 357 Sig brass, they have resale value. Check out MidwayUSA and Auctionarms

Do you guys clean the black residue that comes off of the spent primer before chucking it into a bad brass bin? Do recycling centers care about those powders?

I noticed that some primers are silver in color, they are not brass are they?

Nickel plated brass. Same as silver cases, nickel plated.

Shotshell primers however are not primarily made of brass. They can be picked up with a magnet. Those I chunk in the trash. Everything else goes in the bucket and sold to recyclers.

So these are safe to deposit into brass pile even if they are nickel plated?

How much does brass go for these days? I might start a brass bucket.
