XTP's

Had a really great day today here in the Pacific Northwest to go shooting so I loaded up some 5.56 using 55 grain Hornady XTP's and man can they do a job on a 2 liter pop bottle! Quite a bit of difference between the XTP and the standard 55 gr FMJ. I see why the varmint hunters like these things so well.

Kev, Hornady XTPs are pistol bullets as far as I know. Are you talking about the V-max? The V-max is a great performing bullet for varmints. I use the 95gr/6.5 in my longrange rig.

No ... I really had to hammer and squeeze those 180 grain XTP's down to get them into the 5.56 case but by golly I did it. They weren't very symmetrical or shinny when all was said and done but whatever!

Good grief ... MY BAD. Humble apologies ! Yes the V-Max bullets are what I am referring to. However, the XTP pistol bullets I shot also were quite good!!!

I've found the XTP in any caliber the most accurate bullet I can shoot. Just wish they weren't so pricey.

I am lucky in that I got a bunch as part of the Hornady promo. I like the XTP's because they seem a bit more rounded which I think theoretically will help minimize failure to feed issues.
