Now for my trouble at the range today I had stovepipes, nonejects, and my slide was not comming back all the way to load a new round. Here is the Kicker some of the rounds I shot did not give me a ounce of trouble.

Did the troubles happen more often in a certain gun? You may need to raise your powder a little (.2 grains or so as long as it is safely within the powder specs). Either limp wristing or not enough recoil/ heavy enough charge to overcome the recoil spring and push slide all the way back. I had these same issues and when I increase powder charge.. everything fixed itself. I only have 1 XD in .45, so it was easier to narrow down my problems. Your different guns may have different weight recoil springs, or also your powder charges are not consistent.. those that drop light may have had these issues, while others that are on target or drop heavy shot just fine.
My experience and $.05 worth( $.03 tariff for giving opinion on my Birthday

Recheck your powder scale &/or measure & make sure you are throwing the same weight charge each time. It sounds like you do not have enough pressure going to cycle the slide 100%, although 5gr of BE should be fine. Did you test fire the original 10rds from a full magazine? Is the pistol new, maybe a short break in period? Did you have some lube on the slide rails? Did you taper crimp enough? Lot's of things to go wrong here.

Happened the same in all guns. My XD has had about 500 rounds put threw it before I tried reloading. I did check my powder every 50 i did. I would weigh my powder before I started and rechecked it when i was finished with the 50. I always got 5 grains or 4.9 grains. I will recalabrate my scales to see if that helps and go up to 5.4 grains on my powder. that is the highest grain I can put in the load.
I did test fire the first rounds from a full mag. I did break down my xd and put oil on the slide after i started having the prob. Still had the prob so I asked a buddy to put it in his two guns. He had the same prob on both of them. Oh and Happy Birthday Bearcreek thanks for all the replies dmurphy68

if you know someone with a Chronograph I would suggest hooking up with them and testing the velocities. As bearcreek pointed out, I believe your powdercharge is inconsistent and is too weak. A chrono will point this out if you have any of these rounds left to shoot. Its a great investment and you can get a decent chrono for $100.00 or less.

Thanks for the Birthday greetings!! My parents even managed to screw it up.. they thought my B-day was on Monday... errr today.
Just a question here... is it safe to max out powder load for the cartridge? if you are at 5.0gr and max is 5.4.. I am cautious and conservative.. I would probably try a 5.2 measurement... I am new to reloading, myself so some one more knowledgeable please correct me if I am incorrect with my thinkings about max powder loads. Thanks!
