this could be because we have some who are after the mighty dollar and will sell anything to anybody. weapons and ammo are not getting into the hands of thugs because they are stolen from law abiding citizens
Yes there are many stupid laws or ideas out there, goes with the stupid people in the world.

just my opinion

Thumbs down

Back in the 80s I had a FFL and it was a federal law then. All ammo had to be signed for and the store had to keep a record of it. Can you imagine having to keep records of thousands of rounds of .22LR?

What a hassle. They finally decided that it wasn't worth the effort, I guess...

I thought they were leaning more towards putting a stamp on the hammer, so they can trace what gun fired the round. This would also eliminate the reloading question, as primer would be the part of the casing that gets stamped. But in the end, I think its really more a better idea on paper.

He probably heard about what Illinois was trying to do. We'll see if it actually happens.

we do it at work all the time when selling alcohol, swiping makes sure it's a legit ID, and that the holder is of age.

you know you have to show ID, sign and provide your address when buying Sudafed?

you can already be tracked plenty well, unless you pay for everything in cash, use a PO box, and only use the internet at starbucks, too.

swiping ID does not mean you are being tracked. it means your ID is being verified as not being a fake ID.
Show ID and scan ID are different. Showing, the clerk just verifies. Scan, you can go into a database.

I think the logistics of keeping up with all the serial numbers of each bullet would be too great.

I love the wal-mart here, they usually ask me if the ammo I'm buying is for a handgun or not. Get a kick out of that. Gee, no, this 9mm is for my shotgun. Got some real winners here.

Yeah, but what happens if you are shooting a carbine and you're 18.....can't buy pistol ammo but you can buy rifle ammo. They ask me when I get 22 cuz some pistols shoot 22. Of course if you're 21 you're legit either way, but I think thats why.
