I have litterally over a ton of loaded 45acp ammo in my stash and that wont last me long at all. i wear out guns shootin them like i do but im pretty good with it. i shoot 1ft x 1ft gongs at 125 yrds all day long, 3" spinners at 60 yrds and beleive it or not steel shilloutes at 250 yrds, that shot requires knowing which limb in the tree above it to shoot at for the drop but its actually easier a shot then the 3" spinner. I dont expect people to beleive me, theres plenty that have seen it and i need not have people beleive me to be happy, i can shoot my 45, its what i do, lots of practice and tons of fun.
Thanks for your professional contribution but you still failed to answer the question...

oh sorry, this is not a poll.

do you have anyone who has been willing to let you try the various calibers out on them to see the comparison of "stopping power?"
I should of made it a poll judging by some of the answers I've gotten.
I don't know why it's so damn hard to answer a simple question.
Btw thanks for your vote!!
And no have not gotten the opportunity to shoot a .357 pistol yet...

Enough people have said it already. Just use what you shoot accurately.
The empirical evidence (based on FBI reports, it's been posted before and I can't find it at the moment) puts them in this order for percentage of one shot "stopping power" (if we must use that term) I believe: 357mag, 45acp, 40S&W, and 9mm.
However, the difference is so small there's no reason not to go with 9mm or something else if it's what you shoot well.
I personally go with 45acp, but there's no need to carry 45acp if you have difficulty with the recoil just for a marginal amount of extra stopping power; often times simply saying "I have a gun" will stop someone even sooner.
Thanks for the useful info man.. This was a BIG help!!
Now this is at least on topic.
Btw just curious what type of ammo do you use?

No such thing as stopping power.

It's about which bullet creates the biggest and deepest wound channel, which will be the bullet that expands the most and stays intact, and shot placement.

Good info and I agree with you however if all things were equal...
"Which caliber i.e.(.357, 45acp, or .40) would create the most devastating impact?

I will never participate in a stopping power debate ever again. I am done with it.

I have selected a Glock 27 chambered in .40 caliber for concealed carry. Light compact and .40 cal. If you jack me tonight while I am walking across the parking lot at WalMart, you get dealt a few .40 Ranger SXT's, and I have a total of 10, with a spare mag in my pocket. If you jack me in my backoffice at home, you get .45 ACP dealt from the Operator TRP as I am fighting my way to my 12 gauge. I will be sure to ask the perpetrator which one has more "stopping power".

Somehow, I don't think it matters which one I use, the guy isn't going to be liking it.

yeah, yeah. I know. He might be a rabid zombie on crack that is bullet proof. In that case, I fight my way to my .308. LOL

Alright guys...
I gotta say this..
"ALL THINGS BEING EQUAL I.E. (ACCURACY, TYPE AMMO, ETC.)
WHICH CALIBER WOULD CREATE THE BIGGEST IMPACT??
.45ACP, .40, OR .357

NOTE: JUST PICK ONE OF THE CALIBERS ABOVE IT'S THAT SIMPLE!!!
