A .40 in my .45s!
I went to the range the other day and was running a few boxes of Blazer Brass .45 acp through my XD. Never had an issue with it in the past, but in the middle of a 13 round magazine, I squeeze the trigger and didn't get my normal recoil and I get a nice hole in the paper about 8" too low. I also notice my slide is stuck halfway open. I drop the mag and open the slide to clear and notice the shell casing is stuck in the pipe. Upon removing the spent case, I noticed it was a .40 caliber round. I checked the box and it was marked as a box of .45 acp, but it had even more .40s in it. Six to be exact. I feel kinda stupid for not noticing, but how often does that really happen?
The ammo came from Wally World. I bought a LOAD of the Blazer Brass back when it ran for $11.97. I checked the rest of my stock and they all seem to be correct. Not sure if this was a factory or a Wal-Mart issue. Has anyone else ever had this happen? I've shot probably tens of thousands of rounds in my lifetime, and this is the first time something like this has ever happened. ![]()

Did this once, but with a 9mm in a .40 gun. The gun made a thud instead of a bang when I pulled the trigger and just like the OP said, I got a nice hole about 6" lower than the rest of the group. Case was stretched, but not split, slide didnt even move. Cleared the gun, checked the chamber and barrel for damage and kept on shooting. Everything was fine with the gun, but very disconcerting. This was with WWB by the way.
Contact Blazer and see if you can send the ammo back, chances are they will send you a new box of the correct caliber. |

This is starting to sound like a not-so rare thing with wal-mart. I really can't imagine a competent ammunition factory doing it, especially with probably a computer and automated system doing it. But I can imagine stockers spilling boxes in wal-mart when unpacking them from their cases or putting them on shelves and just sticking them in random boxes.
Only way to know for sure I guess is to have it happen from a sealed case. |

I had a friend shoot a 9mm through my Glock23 40SW. It didn't rupture but it was 9mm. You are lucky it didn't just slide into the barrel and you loaded another 45 right behind it. That would have been very bad!
