Lee Hand Press

Anybody have any experience with this Lee Hand Press????

It seems like a less expensive way to get into reloading. All the reviews are positive at Cabela's and Midway.

It's been the only thing I use since I moved to an Apt and it works great, you can even work up loads at the range. You will get a workout sizing anything 308 or bigger, and on longer rifle cases you have to get creative when it comes to seating but its simple and it works.

If I were you I'd just by a single stage press. That hand press is too much trouble if your thinking of loading more than a hand full of rounds at a time.

The Lee hand press is the best way to NOT get into hanloading. It's painfully slow & requires way too much effort. A cheap Lee single stage is far better approach. You can even take it to the range & load right there. All you need is a couple of C clamps.

i completely agree. Here is my answer to a portable press...
I just undo the wingnuts and C-clamp it to a shooting bench at my range.

I was going to start a new thread, but found this one to be appropriate enough. What do you do, if you can't get a reloading bench set up at your place due to the need to secure it to a wall/floor for stability?

I've read mostly positive stuff about the hand press as well as the Classic Lee Loaders.

I'm looking to reload rifle mostly, 7.5x55 Swiss, and would put up with a slow process for that as I don't shoot that nearly as much as I do the .45 acp.

I'd like to get started reloading, but getting a bench securely mounted somewhere at my place is going to be problematic.

I use a bench like this. I have my press attached to a 1X4 board that's 4' in length, when I'm going to use it I clamp the board and to the bench. If I need to I just add some counter weight on the board to keep the bench from tipping over.

Interesting. I'll have to look into that. I like that you can fold those up and put them away somewhere. I also like that you don't have to bolt it down.

What do you use for counterweight?

Bullets and sand bags. I have 4 sand bags that I use at the bench when sighting in my rifles.

If a set up like that will work, I'll probably have to go with the single stage press...

Maybe I'll get a hand press to do sizing/depriming in front of the TV and then use the hand primer to prime there as well.
