Well that would be hard to tell from those pics cause all that is from a 9mm. I would think that the results would be similar but not exactly the same. I like Speer Gold Dots 230g for my .45.

Thanks for the feedback guys..
Now let me rephrase the question: (rounds included in the link provided.) http://frag.110mb.com/ What rounds have less recoil and are most accurate in 45 caliber in your opinions?? FYI, I have a SA XD 45 Compact. Thanks... |

Try the Golden Sabers it's what we carry as a duty load and I cant think of a better round, If by chance they aren't accurate in your gun, I'd be suprised if they aren't try the Federal Hydra Shoks.

I've run a lot of HST 230 +p through my 45c. I thought well enough of them to use them as carry ammo.
I did, not too long ago, experience a FTFeed with them. So that began my quest for new carry ammo. I decided to try Gold Dots, as I've heard nothing but good about them. I worked them up all the way to maximum (according to Speer #13) and thought I was completely missing my target at 7 yds. On further review, the low light in the winter evening was playing tricks on my eyes as 21 rounds left one ragged hole That's quite a bit better than my HST's ever did. Recoil is fairly significant at these max published loads. AND my primers do show some pressure signs on a couple pieces. But this is carry ammo, not range ammo. I may back off the load just a little, but, so far these are showing promise. Another couple hundred trouble free rounds and I will have a new carry ammo selection.

Quote:
As for recoil, there are 2 very different things when talking about recoil. One is Free Recoil Energy, that can be calculated, It's simply the energy pushing back against you. The other is Felt Recoil and is very subjective, it depends upon how fast or sharp the recoil is and how well the gun fits your hand. Lighter faster bullets generally have less F.R.E., but because the recoil is sharper or quicker it feels to some people like it has more recoil than a heavier slower bullet. There is no answer to your question, You need to go try the ammo and see how accurate it is in your gun and how you perceive the recoil.
