Walmart ammo rants

Boy there sure have been a lot of Walmart ammo rants lately. I understand the frustration with prices going up and one thread mentioned Wally World had a 25% increase almost overnight recently. Heck, I was going to buy one of those 250 count UMC boxes but then my eyes and the price tag ($84) met and I about swallowed my gum.

Here's the deal .... quite buying it there. If, despite it's recent price increases, the ammo that Wally World is selling is still cheaper than the next best retailer then you have a choice: Don't buy from Wally, do buy from Wally. What else are you going to do? Quite shooting? Probably not.

Big5 sporting goods store (if there's any in Oregan) has those on sale for around $54 but yeah walmart still has cheaper ammo. i've only heard one gunstore selling the 100value pack for $1 cheaper.

got to either live with it or reload.

Start reloading, Best bang for your buck right now if you are trying to go on the cheap side like I did. For under $200 you can have everything including a tumbler. I went even cheaper than the cast press and got all of my equipment for under $150. So 100 rounds of 9mm fmj for $8-9 bucks since I buy in quantity of 500.
The only other option is to buy as much as you possibly can at the high prices because soon todays ammo prices will seem cheap.

Does anyone know if Walmart ever has sales on ammo? The guy I asked said no, but I never believe what I hear from the salesman.
But at $15.50 for a box of 100 round 9mm...that's like a sale to me.
I'd love to see them go on sale for like $12-13..."gimme 50 boxes"

I've never heard of an ammo sale. It's like Beer and Cigs, no matter the price they know you'll buy. It seems like yesterday I was buying 20rds of .223 for 3.95 every time they were on the shelf I bought everything they had, boy am I glad I did. They are $8 now!

I'm looking for reloading equipment as I type this. I'd like to buy used equipment to start. I was going to wait until I bought a house, but at $15.77/50 rounds of .45 acp, that's just ridiculous. I think the gun shops are cheaper than Walmart now.

I'd like to know if the 25% price increase...now $14.88 (was $11.97 and previously $10.97 last summer) before taxes is a Walmart price increase or manufacturer increase. If it's Walmart, I'll stop buying everything from there, not just Walmart. $10.97 -> $14.88 (36% increase) in less than 6 months is practically price gouging.
