Wolf .45 ACP

I unfortunately made the mistake of buying 500 rounds of Wolf .45 ammo from Cabela's but that's a different story. Anyways, I had fired it through my XD and didn't have any problems until recently. I loaded thirteen rounds in the mag, fired off approximately 3-4 rounds and then my gun stove piped on me. I dropped the mag out and all of the rounds were jumbled around in the mag. What's weird is that I can load any brass ammo in the mag and I don't have this problem. Has anyone else had this issue? These mags are kept loaded with 13 rounds all the time and I have hardly used them. The only thing I can come up with is that either the mag is having the same problems that the old dare I say Glocks had with the weak springs or since the Wolf ammo has steel cases they tend to have more friction than the brass and cause the rounds to jumble up in the mags. Since it shoots fine with the brass rounds, I'm assuming that the mag spring is fine. Just wanted to see if anyone else has run into this issue.

My friend bought a lot of 9mm Wolf and he's having an occasional FTE with his XDSc (but no problems with brass shells).

So, shoot it up and don't worry about it, it's not the gun.

Ive seen similar problems with wolf through a HK USP40. I have never used wolf and probably never will. Heard too many horror stories.

I agree w/ Tard.

Shoot it up, don't buy it again. I think most of us have a similar story with Wolf.

The only thing I can think of to help is are your magazines clean?

Same here -300 rounds down range today, 4 misfeeds. All Wolf 45ACP.

I think the issus is the coating on the cases. It's slight tacky and they hold up in the mag. I'd even tried tapping the mag to get the rounds to settle in the mag to no avail. No more wolf ammo for me.

~400 rounds of Blazer Brass and Winchester green and not one single misfeed.

The only Wolf I'll ever buy and fire out of my gun is Wolf .223 out of the Stag.

.45

Thanks for the feedback. Glad to know I'm not the only one that has had this issue. I'll just stick to using the rest of it in my 1911 and stick to brass in the XD. A not of caution, be careful if you go into Cabelas and buy ammo in bulk. In the corner of their label it is marked Wolf. Other than that, the sticker says nothing about the ammo being steel cases.

I had the same problem when I put Wolf 45 ACP through my XD, the solution I found was to wipe off the coating Wolf puts on their casings. That should do the trick.
