All things being equal
I am shooting both USPSA and IDPA with my XD40 tactical. When I shoot production in USPSA I am score as minor. I don't think that IDPA makes a difference which caliber I shoot. If I want to reduce the recoil on my 40, what weight of bullet should I go? Lighter or Heavier? If all other factors remain the same. I notice that on the reloading tables that I generally use less powder in a heavier weighted bullet than a lighter one. If I keep the charge the same for both weights will I feel the difference?
Thanks for your thoughts.

A 180gr bullet @ 900fps will have more recoil than a 165gr bullet @ 900fps. Using the same powder charge for both bullets will push the lighter bullet faster & recoil could actually increase. So it's not just simply replacing bullets over the same powder charge.

I like the heavier bullets for this because the recoil is less "snappy".
