If you use Hornady dies, you can set the bullet seating die to do a crimp for you but I use a Lee factory crimp die on all my .45's. I'd recommend using one to keep the bullet from creeping back into the casing causing excessive pressure.

this is from a review of the die set that I plan to buy:
Quote:
I recently purchased the Hornady 3 die set in 45ACP. I had no problem with the sizing die or the expander die but the seating die does not adequately remove the bell and return the case to the .471 case OD after the bullet is seated. The ID of the alignment sleeve is .482 which does nothing to remove the bell or bring the case with bullet back to its correct size. There is a very short taper which according to Hornady is to remove the bell. You have to very slowly adjust the case into the taper to remove the bell and if you go a little too far you will crush the case as I found from experience. Working on an empty case you think you have the bell pretty much removed although you can still feel a slight lip with your fingernail. Unfortunately seating the bullet slightly expands the brass which won't allow the loaded rounds to adequately chamber in a match grade barrel. Of course there is a solution if you purchase the Hornady Taper Crimp Die for another $17 to bring the loaded case back to .471 where it belongs or you can buy an RCBS die set which gets it there with 3 dies instead of 4. I realize that this may be a mute point if you are shooting a mil spec barrel.

so it sounds like I should probably get the taper crimp die as well.
