really pointless wooden bullet question

well i was thinking if it was possible to make a bullet out of wood.
i know its very pointless i just thought it would be kinda cool to shoot a couple of these and on the plus side it MIGHT help clean some of the fouling out of your barrel.

I would hate to see you blow up your gun because of over-pressure. Be careful...

I believe Cheaper than Dirt had some surplus ammo for sale with wooden bullets. They were used in training some European military. Too weak to cycle the action, probably just primer with no powder.

If you want to shoot cheap, best to go with the primer-only wax bullet route. Easy to make at home in the kitchen and the "Cowboys" have been using them for years.

well i would never do it unless i knew 100% me and my gun would be ok.

oh and the post about not cycleing the slide makes alot of sense with the light weight of the bullet i really doubt it would cycle.

it also would be kinda cool just take make one for presentation out of oak or something and stain it and polish the brass case

As long as it was loaded primer only NO powder and wasnt too awfully tight in the bore it should shoot just like a wax, or rubber bullet. And if it gets stuck with primer only, then you'd just have to drive it out with a dowel or something. But it wouldnt cycle the slide, and you'd have to do it manually for every round.

Did I mention primer only, NO powder!

Not sure the exact date they stopped using tthem but most of the blanks use in the MG34 and 42 during WW2 used wood blanks. there is a "shredder" attachment for the barrel instead of a blank adaptor like used now.

Not sure if other countries during that time period did or not.

Not sure if you have ever seen these before I bought them about 20 years ago. they are .44 mag plastic bullets. The are reusable and pretty accurate.
