Reloading 5.56

As everyone who reloads knows when reloading 5.56 brass you have to lube it then re-size/decap it. Is it possible to skip the lube step if you have a carbide resizing/decapping die or do you still have to lube the case?

How does the Hornady LNL AP press do with 5.56?

You must lube all bottle neck brass. Failure to do so will result in MUCH swearing.

no skip the lube, never skip the lube process! if you already have the carbide dies, well, you'll never have to buy another set! i know where you were going because i was there too when i started loading 5.56. all shouldered rifle cases need to be lubed. i don't know about 357sig; in fact, that's another question. maybe someone will wake up and help us both out!
the lnl is great. i couldn't find a shellplate locally so i'm still loading 5.56 on mu lee turret. i also bought but haven't used an rcbs lube die. it had pretty good ratings on midwayusa.com!
assuming(and i know what THEY say about ass u me!)your lnl is an ap, i would recommend a powder cop die or an rcbs powder checker(which was rated higher, again midway). if you load pistol, spring for the pistol micrometer; it holds charge weight really well. i bought one used on arfcom. it was for an older machine. the new ones require you to purchase a new rotor(silver disc that turns on your powder dispneser!).
let me know if i can help you and sorry if i have confused you!

I use Hornady One Shot aerosol spray lube. It's not as messy as the others and doesn't need to be cleaned off the cases after resizing.

I don't lube my 357 Sig brass & I've reloaded hundreds of them. I make the resizing process a 2-step one. I first resize with a carbide 40 cal resizer, then run it through the .357 sig resizer. Works like a charm and have never had a problem.....

I've employed the same methodology when reloading .400 Cor-Bon. I'll first resize/decap with a .45ACP die, then bump the shoulder with a .400 Cor-Bon die.

I use Hornady One-Shot for lubing .223s. I lay them flat in a box and spray them lightly. The lube will migrate around the brass. I also use the RCBS X die, so, after the initial trimming, I don't do further trimming.

I DO remove the One-Shot from my loaded rounds by tumbling for a few minutes in cc media.

I was doing 357 sig with lee dies having to lube. I bought a Dillon carbide die, no more lube, and 5000 rounds later it is still going smooth.
