Clean powders for .45 ACP
Just got me a Sig P220 Compact, and its not playing well with the bullets I've been loading my .45's with, and I think I'm gonna try a new powder while I'm at it. Been doing all my .45 loads up to this point with Hodgdon Clays, and it works, but its the dirtiest burning ammo I have ever fired out of my .45's by a long shot (even dirtier than S&B ). Does anyone have a clean(er) powder that plays well with the .45 ACP?

AA #5 works pretty cleanly for me. I have gotten some Ramshot True Blue, but I have not tried it yet.

Wow, most guys will tell you Clays is pretty clean. I don;t like it because the pressure curve is very steep & seems "spikey". BE is really dirty, W231/HP38 are ok but get alittle wired at +p levels. I like WST for target to std. vel. loads. Very clean & acuracy is top notch. For +p loads, Unique runds prett clean at those pressure levels as does WSF.

Titegroup is great. But not as readily available as W231.
Seems a lot of other people like it so it's always sold out and harder to get large quantities in stock. Bought 4lb last time since they only had one 4lb box left.

Like others have mentioned Titegroup is a good one. Not sure what others experiences have been but Titegroup seems to produce a more manageable recoil ... less snappy I guess is how I would characterize it. My comparisons are Win 231 and Bullseye.
Anybody like Power Pistol?
